Behind the Lens

Meet Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Marquez · Founder & Photographer

Some passions are too important to leave behind.

For Elizabeth Marquez, photography has always been more than the creation of a beautiful image. It is a way of noticing what others might overlook — the quiet expression, the unguarded moment, the story waiting in the light.

01 / The Beginning

Where the light first entered

The Aperture

Elizabeth's love of photography took shape alongside an equally strong curiosity about how images communicate. At the University of Houston, she pursued both: a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography/Video and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing.

She continued at the University of Texas at Austin, completing a dual graduate-degree program in Advertising and Business Administration, earning an MA in Advertising and an MBA. Her education gave her two ways of seeing the same image: as an artist, and as a storyteller who understands its impact.

02 / Two Worlds

Between responsibility and passion

The Shutter Speed

After completing her studies, Elizabeth built a professional career at Elegant Consultations. Her days were spent behind a desk, applying her business and communications background. Outside office hours, another part of her life came into focus.

Evenings and weekends became opportunities for independent photography assignments. With every portrait and creative project, she found herself drawn further toward the work that made her feel most alive.

03 / The Turning Point

A clearer vision of the future

The Focal Length

Elizabeth did not leave the corporate world because she lacked direction. She left because her direction had become unmistakable. She chose to step away from the security of her desk and build a life around the art she loved.

Elegant Aperture Studios grew from that decision: an independent photography practice devoted to personal portraits, professional headshots, and fashion and editorial imagery — each approached with care, intention, and a respect for the person in front of the camera.

Every story deserves to be seen

The Final Exposure

For Elizabeth, the most meaningful photograph is not simply one that shows how someone looks. It is one that captures something of who they are — a sense of presence, individuality, and feeling that lasts beyond the moment.
