About Ember Foundry Labs
Ember Foundry Labs is an independent technology company created to turn ideas and practical problems into both products and solutions, while keeping the user and their experience at the center of the engineering process.
The Foundry is not defined by a single platform, product category, or scale of work. Each project is approached according to its purpose, the problem it is intended to solve, and the experience it should provide to the people who ultimately depend on the developed product or solution.
The Foundry
The Foundry is a place of transformation where ideas, requirements, and practical problems are shaped through a deliberate, multi-stage process into products and solutions with a defined purpose. Ember Foundry Labs applies this principle to technology by treating those ideas, requirements, and problems as the raw material, while design, engineering, testing, validation, and refinement form the process through which they are transformed into purposeful results.
The name reflects both the process and the objective. What leaves the Foundry should be intentionally designed, carefully engineered, thoroughly evaluated, and meticulously prepared to fulfill its purpose throughout its intended lifecycle while providing value beyond its initial creation.
The Ember Foundry Labs Engineering Standard
Engineering at Ember Foundry Labs is guided by six essential principles: Elegance, Efficiency, Efficacy, Safety, Security, and Stability.
The standard does not prescribe specific technologies, programming languages, frameworks, or implementation techniques. Instead, it defines the qualities every Ember Foundry Labs project should strive to achieve throughout its lifecycle, from initial design and development through deployment, maintenance, and future evolution. Collectively, these six principles form the Ember Foundry Labs 3E + 3S Engineering Standard.
No principle exists in isolation. Engineering decisions often involve trade-offs, and the objective is to balance and integrate all six while preserving the integrity of the project as a whole. Consistent application of the standard establishes a repeatable level of engineering quality across Ember Foundry Labs projects and provides the foundation upon which a product or solution must be evaluated before it is considered ready to carry the Ember Foundry Labs name.
