Sebian Project Athena
Sebian Project Athena is a curated desktop operating environment built upon Debian 13, Cinnamon, and X11 to provide a cohesive, productivity-focused Linux experience. Rather than replacing Debian, Cinnamon, or the underlying Linux environment, Athena builds upon that foundation while preserving access to the systems and tools beneath it.
Athena brings together Sebian-developed applications and applets, established Linux applications and components, system interfaces, configuration and customization, visual components, themes and icons, shell and workflow enhancements, system-awareness and maintenance capabilities, runtime support, and dedicated setup and lifecycle tooling. These elements are engineered to operate as parts of a coordinated environment rather than as a collection of unrelated applications, themes, and modifications.
At the center of Athena is a progressive approach to interaction. Familiar graphical navigation and discoverable controls provide an approachable starting point, while keyboard shortcuts, application launchers, shell functions, terminal workflows, automation, and direct Linux tools provide increasingly efficient paths as a user's knowledge and experience develop. Athena is designed so that increasing Linux proficiency expands the user's available choices rather than requiring them to abandon the environment in which they started.
Sebian Project Athena is developed under the Ember Foundry Labs Engineering Standard, applying the Foundry's engineering principles throughout the project's design, development, validation, and lifecycle.
