Meeting 1 — Project initiation: Review and confirm the signed development agreement, requirements, content, and design direction. The $350 reservation payment is due after contract execution and before development begins.
Meeting 2 — First QA/QC checkpoint: Review initial structure and design, record agreed revisions, and confirm the next stage. The $300 milestone payment is due according to the agreement.
Meeting 3 — Second QA/QC checkpoint: Review the substantially developed website, agreed functionality, and remaining refinements. The next $300 milestone payment is due according to the agreement.
Meeting 4 — Final acceptance: Confirm completion and written acceptance. The remaining $250 is paid before delivery of agreed project materials and transfer of contractual ownership rights.
Feedback and approvals are documented. Requests that expand the agreed scope are separately quoted and approved before additional work proceeds.
CLIENT OWNERSHIP & INDEPENDENCE
Upon completion and final payment, the custom website code and original design work created specifically for your project transfer to you under the written agreement. You receive the agreed project files and handoff information, and your domain and service accounts remain under your control.
No mandatory hosting contract. No required ongoing maintenance subscription. Freedom to choose your future provider.
We provide the agreed website files and relevant setup and handoff information so you can maintain the site independently or work with another developer. Third-party software, imagery, fonts, frameworks, and other licensed materials remain subject to their respective licenses. The written development agreement defines the transfer of custom intellectual-property rights and any applicable exclusions.
HOSTING & THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Ember Foundry Labs develops websites; we do not operate or resell client hosting services or maintain client hosting servers. We help identify reliable, cost-conscious options for hosting, domains, and other required services, and configure the agreed services in accounts owned by you. Provider fees are paid directly by the client.
We discuss suitable providers based on your project's requirements, capabilities, reliability, and expected costs. You choose the provider and remain responsible for its terms, renewals, subscriptions, and service availability. We assist with the agreed initial setup or transfer; ongoing hosting, server administration, and routine maintenance are not included in the standard package.
Initial setup may require temporary authorized access to hosting, domain or DNS management, Cloudflare, analytics, Search Console, or other agreed integrations. Wherever supported, you can grant appropriately scoped collaborator or administrator permissions instead of sharing primary passwords. We request only access needed for the agreed work, and remove project access at handoff unless you separately authorize continued involvement.
We do not ask you to email passwords, recovery codes, or multi-factor authentication secrets. If a provider does not support delegated access, we can coordinate secure, client-guided setup steps.
AFTER LAUNCH
For 90 days from the agreed launch date, we correct defects attributable to the delivered website and accommodate reasonable minor changes to existing content.
Covered work includes correcting defects, errors, or malfunctions attributable to the website as delivered, and reasonable minor updates to existing text, business hours, contact information, or pricing. Covered requests must be submitted during the 90-day period.
New pages, major redesigns, additional functionality, and issues introduced by third-party services or changes outside our control are not included. The agreement specifies the support terms and response process.
RETURNING CLIENTS
Already have a website developed by Ember Foundry Labs? Return to us for updates, improvements, or additional features. Every request is reviewed and quoted individually based on its requirements—no published minimum service fee and no mandatory maintenance subscription.
Examples include content changes, new sections, design refinements, additional pages, and new functionality. We review the current website, technical compatibility, and any changes made since handoff before quoting the work. More substantial redevelopment may require a separate project agreement. Complimentary changes covered by the original 90-day support period remain included under that agreement.
DEVELOPMENT TIMELINES
Standard projects are anticipated to take approximately 4–6 weeks. Straightforward projects may finish sooner, while complex designs or additional functionality may require more time. A project-specific schedule is agreed during planning.
Quality, efficiency, and efficacy guide our front-end work—including usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and visitor experience—and applicable back-end work, including integrations, reliability, and maintainability. Scheduled reviews and QA/QC checkpoints help us deliver effectively without sacrificing engineering standards to meet an arbitrary deadline.
Client availability, timely delivery of content and access, and approved changes in scope may affect the schedule. We confirm project-specific expectations in the development agreement.
